This is
the best time of year for those lunker Largemouth. During their spawn Bass do
not feed, but watch out when it's over. They will hit anything that moves. The
time of the spawn changes from year to year depending on water temperature but
if you hit it right that trophy Bass could be yours.
Table Rock is also becoming
one of the nations best Smallmouth lakes. Pound for pound, Smallmouth are one
of the best sport fish there is. So come on down in the Spring and get in on
the fun.

You may
not think of the "Dog Days of Summer" as being good Bass fishing, but Table
Rock Lake is the exception to the rule. You just have to think like a Bass. Go
down to the cooler water in one of Table Rock's many deep reservoirs and use
their favorite bait - NIGHT CRAWLERS!
This is the time of year for
family vacations so let's not forget the kids. Weather fishing from the bank or
on one of the many docks on Indian Point, Brim and Perch abound. Even for the
youngest angler there are trophies to be caught. Of course, the biggest trophy
of all is the smile on the face of a child that's just caught their first fish.
All you need is a fishing pole with line, bober and hook; a box of worms and a
camera to record the memories.
WHERE TO START FOR
BASS
Main
river points with no timber. Fish 20 to 25 feet deep in water that is 40 to 50
feet deep.
EQUIPMENT
A boat with good electronics,
light spinning rod with 8 pound test line.

Live bait / Night Crawlers / Grubs

Fall
fishing on Table Rock Lake has two real advantages. The weather is great and so
is the fishing! Largemouth, Smallmouth and Kentuckies come up from the deep
water and head into shallower water as the water temperature cools. This is a
time of transition for Bass. The water temperature can cool as much as 25°
from September thru November (85° in Sept. to 60° in Nov.).
WHERE TO
START
When water temperature is around 85° find a deep channel bluff and
fish both ends. The depth should be around 50 to 60 feet deep. As the water
cools thru October and November (closer to 60°) move to shallow
water.
EQUIPMENT
Bass boat with good
electronis, Medium spinning rod with 8 pound test line.
BAITS
Night crawlers in the warmer,
deeper water. Then switch to crank baits, spinner baits, and Gitzits as the
water cools and the fish move to shallower water.

Most
people don't think of this time of year as good fishing, but the exact opposite
is true, especially for Kentuckies (Spotted Bass). Just think deep! Kentucky
Bass will supend down in the trees right at the edge of the channels and ambush
bait that is swimming by. What Kentuckies lack in size they make up for in
fight. So hold on, dress warm and have fun!
WHERE TO LOOK
Think deep. At Table
Rock Lake, bass will supend 35 to 40 feet down in water that is as deep as 80
feet. The timber at the edge of the river and creek channels and the streches
along bluffs, points and drop offs are good places to start.
EQUIPMENT
Medium action spinning rod and 8
pound test line. A boat with good electronics is a must to find at what depth
the bass are holding.
BAITS
Live baits such as
large shinners or crawdads are among the best. Use 3 large split shot and a
medium size hook. Lures such as jigging spoons, Gitzits and grubs also work
well.
